Summertime... & tax credits are easy

This summer hiring youth makes tax credits easy. Youth who begin work during 2009 or 2010 will be eligible to earn their employers business tax credits in two ways.

(1)
"Disconnected Youth" are your new hires ages 16 to 24 years of age - regardless of home address - that meet the following criteria over the past 6 months;
(a) not attending school more than 10 hours/week
(b) not earning more than they could working more than 30 hours /week at minimum wage
(c) not being in possession of a high school diploma or GED; unless out-of-work and school for the last 6 months.
Over 1 year of work the employer may earn up to $2,400 in tax credit for each youth hired and qualified under this WOTC target group.

(2)
"Summer Youth" 16 to 18 year of age are defined as those hired May 1st to Sept. 15th who are confirmed residents of a Federal Zone as defined by WOTC regulations. Each youth so qualified may earn their employers tax credits up to $1,200 on gross wages paid over a maximum period of 90 days.There are now 12 WOTC target groups including the 2 added with the ARRA ("Stimulus Package") on February 17th of 2009. The tax credits offered for hiring youth are substantial; yet available only to those who properly apply, document and claim them.
