The Opportunity Joke
The opportunity to capture little-known tax credits is similar to the old story about an entrepreneur and economist walking down the street.
The entrepreneur stops and says, “Look, there is a $20 bill on the ground!”
The economist turns and coolly replies, “Can’t be. If there was a $20 bill on the ground, somebody would have already picked it up.”
The entrepreneur will pick up the $20 bill and hire McKenzie Chase to capture tax credits like the WOTC. The economist will refuse to believe it is there because it likely would have been picked it up already if the opportunity truly existed.
